Bubble charts in Google Slides

What is a bubble chart?

A bubble chart is a scatter chart with a third dimension: bubble size encodes a value alongside the X and Y position, so you can compare three variables at once — market size, growth and revenue, for example. Google Slides has no scatter chart, let alone a bubble variant, so this is usually faked with manually resized shapes.

When to use it

• Comparing three variables at once — size, growth and share, or price, volume and margin.
• Portfolio or market maps where position and size both matter.
• Replacing a cluttered bubble mock-up built from hand-resized shapes.

How to make a bubble chart in Google Slides

1. No scatter or bubble chart natively
   Google Slides' chart tool has no scatter chart, so there's no bubble variant either — the usual workaround is manually resized circles that drift out of scale.
2. Insert a ChartKit bubble chart
   Pick Bubble from the chart menu; X and Y position each point and a third value scales bubble size automatically.
3. Enter the three values and style it
   Type X, Y and size in the grid — bubbles scale and colour automatically. Apply your palette and edit it live on the slide.
